Biography

Anita Chan is an audit partner based in Los Angeles, currently on rotation within KPMG’s National Office (Department of Professional Practice). Anita has over 14 years of experience in auditing large public and private manufacturing and consumer product companies, in both the Los Angeles and New York offices of KPMG. In her current role, Anita focuses on complex auditing and accounting issues and provides ESG reporting and attestation services to clients. 

Anita was a Professional Accounting Fellow within the Office of the Chief Accountant (OCA) at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from July 2020 through July 2022. During her time at the Commission, Anita was an active member of the rulemaking team that drafted the Enhancement and Standardization of Climate-Related Disclosures for Investors proposal. 

Professional and industry experience

?       During the two-year fellowship at the SEC-OCA’s Professional Practice Group:

o        Led and participated in teams assigned to study and develop rule proposals under the federal securities laws 

o        Liaised with auditing and other professional standard-setting bodies

o        Consulted with public companies and auditors on auditing, reporting, and independence matters.

?       Previously at KPMG (2006 – 2020)

o        Served as the lead Audit senior manager of a Fortune 50 SEC registrant, managed a team of multiple managers and associates while supporting two partners.

o        Management of the global reporting of the inter-firm work that supports the Fortune 50 SEC registrant’s worldwide US GAAP audit.

o        Executed various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) attestation reports, based on the Global Reporting Initiative framework
