Biography

Bernard (Barry) A. Nigro Jr. serves as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice.  Mr. Nigro has previously served as Deputy Director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition, Chair of the Antitrust Department of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP, and Vice Chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law.  Mr. Nigro graduated from Georgetown University and The George Washington University Law School, and subsequently clerked for the Honorable Charles R. Richey on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.  Mr. Nigro's practice has focused on investigations and litigation under federal and state antitrust and unfair competition laws, including private and government litigation and criminal grand jury proceedings.  He frequently handles matters relating to the clearance of mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, deceptive trade practices, advertising, unfair marketing practices and antitrust compliance counseling and training.
