Biography

Deborah K. Squiers is a Partner at the New York City intellectual property boutique of Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman, P.C.  Debbie evaluates, advises on and litigates intellectual property matters involving trademark, copyright and related matters worldwide.  Debbie has more than twenty years of experience conducting clearance and prosecution of trademarks and copyrights, advising on acquisitions and divestitures of intellectual property, licensing of trademarks and copyrights, and implementing and supervising enforcement programs for trademarks, copyrights and domain names.  She handles the worldwide intellectual property portfolios of a number of multinational corporations based in the U.S., as well as the U.S. interests of a number of foreign corporations and individuals doing business in the U.S.

Debbie is an active member of the International Trademark Association where she was Chair of the Association’s annual Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition in trademark law for law students and is currently a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.  She has lectured at area law school and bar association seminars.

Debbie is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law, where she was a member of Fordham Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal and Moot Court Board.  Prior to entering law school, Debbie was a newspaper reporter covering finance and legal news for the New York Law Journal and Women’s Wear Daily.
