Biography

Jennifer Kennedy Gellie is the Acting Chief of CES, overseeing DOJ’s nation state threats portfolio, including counterintelligence, export controls and sanctions, foreign malign influence, and transnational repression. Prior to her current role, Jenny served as Deputy Section Chief over CES’s counter-foreign malign influence portfolio, supervising prosecutions of criminal violations of FARA and 18 U.S.C. § 951. In that role, Jenny also served as FARA Unit Chief, overseeing civil, administrative enforcement of FARA.  


As a trial attorney, Jenny prosecuted Kevin Patrick Mallory for passage of classified national defense information to a Chinese intelligence officer, Mariam Thompson for passage of classified national defense information to an individual affiliated with Hezbollah, and Kyle Frese for passage of classified national defense information to members of the media. 


Jenny previously worked as a special assistant district attorney in Lowell, Massachusetts and practiced as a litigation associate in Goodwin Procter LLP’s Boston and Washington, DC offices. Jenny holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia, a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a Juris Doctor from the Boston University School of Law.
