Biography

In her role as Vice President of Community Outreach for the United Way of Greater Houston, Mary Vazquez provides leadership and oversight for 2-1-1 Texas/United Way HELPLINE, United Way Centers in the Bay Area, Fort Bend, Montgomery and Waller Counties, United Way Nonprofit Connection and serves as the leader in developing United Way’s disaster response for our four-county area. 

In her 2-1-1 role, Mary has been instrumental in planning and implementing an infrastructure to scale up 2-1-1 to handle over 1,000,000 connections annually managing annual contracts for 2-1-1 Texas/United Way HELPLINE totaling over $2.5 million.  

Mary has assumed increasing levels of responsibility in the development of United Way’s disaster response for families in our community following Tropical Storm Allison, Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike, 2016 Flood, Hurricane Harvey and most recently Tropical Storm Uri/Texas Winter Storm and the COVID-19 pandemic.   She leads Long Term Recovery Collaborative Committees in four counties.

Mary has a Bachelor of Science from Springfield College where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in human services.
