Biography
Molly Meegan, JD, currently serves as the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (“ACOG”), where she is involved in all aspects of the management of related 501(c)(3), (c)(6) and 527 organizations. Molly acts as General Counsel while also overseeing ACOG’s federal and state government affairs, health and payment policy department and public affairs departments, as well as ACOG’s highly regarded amicus curiae practice, which provides the U.S. Supreme Court and other federal and state courts across the country with medically accurate information regarding the provision of women’s health care. She spearheaded ACOG’s response to the reversal of Roe v. Wade, entering ACOG’s appearances in dozens of state and federal courts explaining the danger of legislative interference in the physician-patient relationship and the criminalization of evidence-based medicine.
Molly brings a breadth and depth of experience in both the non-profit and private sectors. Her career includes more than twenty years in private practice counseling Fortune 500 corporations and financial institutions, as well as nonprofit organizations and their boards. She has served on and chaired various nonprofit boards herself, and has expertise in the development of high-functioning boards of directors and organizations. Molly also has specialized expertise in the operation of separate but related 501(c)(3), (4) and (6) nonprofit organizations and their associated PACs. She speaks regularly on topics relevant to reproductive rights, advocacy in the courts, corporate social responsibility and corporate political activities.
Molly served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia under U.S. Attorney Eric Holder. She has won numerous awards for her advocacy, including the Human Rights Campaign’s National Ally of Justice Award and the United States Department of Justice Award for Superior Performance of Duty. Molly received her law degree, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as an editor to the Georgetown Law Journal and where she teaches as an adjunct professor.
