Biography
Ms. Ellis is the Chief of the Consumer Protection Division for the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. She has been at the Illinois Attorney General’s Office since 2005. Her work has included several mortgage origination and servicing-related actions against large financial institutions, including serving on the negotiating and monitoring committees for the National Mortgage Settlement. She has also participated in actions and investigations relating to other financial products such as payday, auto, and student loans. Today her work oversees the areas of consumer fraud, health care, veterans’ rights, charitable organizations, and franchise. Prior to the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, Ms. Ellis worked in the Chicago office of Mayer Brown. Ms. Ellis graduated, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota School of Law in 1998.
