Biography
Tangela Richter is Deputy General Counsel & Corporate Secretary leading the Enterprise Functions Division of the Wells Fargo Legal Department. Enterprise Functions provides integrated, strategic legal advice to all Wells Fargo corporate functions and businesses on operations and legal issues that affect the enterprise, in addition to providing corporate secretary support to the Board of Directors. Areas of coverage include corporate real estate, contracts with third party vendors, mergers and acquisitions, technology, digital and innovation, information and cyber security, physical security, incident management, health and safety, data privacy, global services and offshoring, records and data management, proxy statements and shareholders’ meetings, SEC reporting and compliance, and corporate governance.
Tangela has over 25 years of legal experience with a focus on developing strong leaders and fostering an inclusive and diverse work culture. Tangela joined Wells Fargo from American Express Company where she served as Managing Counsel leading the Enterprise Legal Team and prior to that as Corporate Secretary. Prior to joining American Express, Tangela served as Deputy General Counsel at Lending Club Corporation and held leadership roles at Capital One Financial Corporation and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Tangela began her legal career as a tax associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.
Tangela is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Howard University. Tangela is on the board of the Dance Theater of Harlem. She also serves on the board of God’s Love We Deliver, a non-profit based in New York City that cooks and home-delivers nutritious medically tailored meals to people who are too unwell to shop or cook for themselves.
