Biography
Zach Smolinski is an attorney having a focus on intellectual property, transactional, and M&A law and a strong interest in emerging technologies.
Mr. Smolinski works with founders and executives to optimize their companies’ legal strategies, with a particular focus on the intersection of law and technology. He works with clients in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications and evaluating and negotiating license agreements, including SaaS agreements.
Mr. Smolinski and has been working with blockchains since 2015, counseling on the legal and technical aspects of working with blockchain data structures, primarily with respect to the IP aspects of these ventures. He speaks frequently on the intersections between blockchains and intellectual property law.
Previously, Mr. Smolinski was in-house counsel for Panduit Corp., an international manufacturer of electrical and communications hardware, ultimately serving as Panduit’s Assistant General Counsel. In that role, Mr. Smolinski directed in-house legal operations for a wide variety of IP and corporate legal matters, including purchase-side IP and general due diligence in corporate acquisitions.
Before joining Panduit, he was with the firm of Jenkens & Gilchrist, working primarily in patent law in a range of technical areas including gaming, optics, and medical devices.
Mr. Smolinski received his JD from the University of Illinois College of Law and his BS in physics from Illinois State University. He is a registered patent attorney.
