Overview
Why You Should Attend
This program is designed to provide attorneys, advocates, school district employees, and special education service providers with an understanding of the latest legal developments in special education law. Experienced faculty will review recent case law impacting California practitioners and then take an in-depth look at the legal and practical implications of these cases on students with disabilities and their educators.
What You Will Learn
After completing this program, participants will be able to:
- Understand the difference between procedural and substantive due process claims
- Understand Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) and the range of practical issues that arise when securing an IEE or defending against an IEE
- Recognize the rules related to the provision of special education in charter schools
- Identify the ethics that are involved in special education matters
