Overview
Why You Should Attend
SEC reporting and FASB changes are anticipated with the start of a new administration. Companies will need to keep pace with an ever-evolving reporting landscape. Attend SECI’s Midyear Forum and stay up to date on the latest developments in SEC rulemaking and the FASB’s standard-setting process. In addition, attendees will learn about frequent SEC comment areas and explore relevant enforcement actions emanating from the SEC. There is also a session on ethical challenges which qualifies for ethics credit for CPE purposes. Our expert faculty will offer practical approaches to new and complex accounting and disclosure requirements.
What You Will Learn

• Understand the current regulatory landscape and emerging issues under new SEC leadership
• Summarize rulemaking from the FASB’s technical agenda, including segment reporting and disaggregation of income statement expenses
• Anticipate accounting and reporting issues incurred with income taxes, including ASU 2023-09 “Improvements to Income Tax Disclosures”
• Identify changes from the FASB on accounting for financial instruments
• Prepare for disclosure requirements on ESG and climate change, including the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the requirements of California’s ESG disclosures legislation and the status of the SEC final rule
• Recall recent developments and the most frequent comment areas in the SEC review process
• Gain insight on recent SEC enforcement actions, whistleblowing developments and ethical challenges
• Discuss best practices for drafting MD&A, including the SEC’s focus on non-GAAP measures
• Understand the current focus areas of the PCAOB

Prerequisites: We recommend first attending the SEC Reporting Skills Workshop for Financial Professionals or SEC Reporting and Practice Skills Workshop for Lawyers or prior experience with the SEC reporting process and use of the Instructions to Forms, and Regulations S-K and S-X.
