Overview

Why You Should Attend

2024 marks the 29th year of this exceptional program, which, by bringing together speakers with consumer, regulatory and industry perspectives, is considered the premier consumer financial services CLE program in the country.

2024 has been an incredibly active year for the consumer finance industry. The CFPB, DOJ, FTC, and federal banking agencies continue to pursue new priorities, including initiatives related to fair lending, credit reporting, deposit accounts, and payments. State regulators and attorneys general are actively collaborating with their federal partners to move their agendas, pursuing regulatory and legislative initiatives within their own states and in conjunction with other states.

The volume of private litigation, particularly focused on deposit account issues, credit reporting, debt collection, and data privacy and security also remains high, with evolving changes based on recent jurisprudence, including from the Supreme Court. And there are several cases that the Supreme Court is poised to decide in 2024 that may have significant implications for consumer finance law, and this program will discuss the fallout from those decisions.

This popular 1.5-day event brings together faculty representing a wide range of perspectives ranging from federal and state regulatory and enforcement agency representatives to experienced plaintiffs', defense, in house counsel and consumer advocates who will bring you up to speed on what they are focusing on now and the areas in which the risk of private litigation, including mass arbitrations, and class actions, remains high. They will focus on how the complex network of federal and state laws applies to the broad range of consumer financial services, including credit products, deposit accounts, payments, and consumer reporting and consumer data.

Join us and our esteemed faculty for an insightful review of the most current financial services issues.

This event is the second of three complementary events PLI is offering in 2024, all of which are suitable for attendees at all levels. Consumer Financial Services Fundamentals 2024 provides an introduction to the series and is currently available on demand at www.pli.edu, and “Consumer Financial Services 2024: Year-End Update and Post-Election Look Ahead” will take place on December 10, 2024. We hope you will attend all three!
