CLE Requirements: The North Carolina State Bar Continuing Legal Education Department requires attorneys to complete 24 credits, including 4 ethics, 1 technology training, and 1 hour of professional well-being (formerly substance abuse) in a two-year compliance period beginning March 1 through the last day of February, effective March 1, 2024. A maximum of 12 credits may be carried over to the next reporting period. Carryover hours will count toward the total requirement but not the special credit type requirements. 2024 Temporary Requirements: Lawyers admitted in an odd year (e.g., 2015, 2017, 2023) will have a one-time, one-year, 12 credit requirement, including 2 ethics, 1 technology training, and 1 hour of professional well-being (formerly substance abuse).

Attendance Reporting: PLI reports attendance to the North Carolina State Bar Continuing Legal Education Department, which will provide a form annually for reporting attendance.
