HR Recertification
Requirements: The HR Certification Institute requires HR professionals to complete 60 credits by the end of the HR professional's birth month every three years. HRCI-certified HR professionals can earn all credits through PLI. PLI is an HRCI-approved provider. There is no credit maximum on programs offered by HRCI-approved providers.
HRCI Continuing Education credit can be applied to the following accredited certifications:
- Associate Professional in Human Resources™ (aPHR®)
- Associate Professional in Human Resources - International™ (aPHRi™)
- Professional in Human Resources® (PHR®)
- Professional in Human Resources - California® (PHRca®)
- Senior Professional in Human Resources® (SPHR®)
- Global Professional in Human Resources® (GPHR®)
- Professional in Human Resources - International™ (PHRi™)
- Senior Professional in Human Resources - International Professional™ (SPHRi™)
Effective January 1, 2021, all certificants with the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) must fulfill one ethics credit as part of the total 45/60 recertification credits requirement. There is NOT a specific “Ethics Credit” designation to select from when entering the activity. Simply include one ethics-themed activity in your recertification plan and check the required “ethics affirmation box” to submit your recertification application.
Completing Your Recertification Requirements with PLI: Select programs are submitted for approval to the HR Certification Institute. To request HR Recertification credit for eligible programs, be sure to enter your license information on your account profile. View PLI programs pre-approved for HR recertification credit by the HR Certification Institute.
Attendance Reporting: Attendees must report their own attendance to the HR Certification Institute via their online account.
