Biography
Allison L. Wood is Principal of Legal Ethics Consulting, P.C. in Chicago. She is a former Hearing Board Chair and former Litigation Counsel with the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC). Her firm was established to help good lawyers stay out of disciplinary or malpractice trouble and to provide strategic defense when they need it. LEC provides preventative ethics counseling; comprehensie responses to ARDC requests for investigation, and strategic defense for lawyers who face procedings before the ARDC Inquiry Board, Hearing Board and Review Board. LEC also provides consulting and representation to law graduates facing Character and Fitness issues; and legal ethics expert services in relation to legal malpractice cases. Prior to working for the ARDC, Ms. Wood had been in private practice for over ten years; and she was a Partner at a boutique law firm where she handled commercial litigation, breach of contract, employment matters and products liability.
Ms. Wood is a former member of the Illinois Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Professional Conduct; the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Lawyers’ Professional Liability; and the Chicago Bar Association’s Board of Managers. She is currently a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility; and the Illinois Supreme Court Committee of Professional Responsibility. Ms. Wood has taught Professional Responsibility courses in area law schools and she is a Certified MCLE Ethics Provider. She is a frequent speaker and panelist for ethics programs locally as well as nationally.
