Biography
Daren Gottlieb is an attorney in Branch 4 of the Office of Associate Chief Counsel (International) at the IRS. Branch 4 has primary jurisdiction over U.S. international tax and cross-border M&A provisions such as sections 245A, 367, 959, 961, 1248, and 7874. Before joining Chief Counsel, Daren was a senior manager in the International Tax Group of KPMG's Washington National Tax office, where he advised clients on U.S. international tax matters, including tax planning with respect to their organizational structures, operations, and transactions.
Daren earned a bachelor's degree in Philosophy/Law & Society from the University of California, Riverside, a J.D. from Western State College of Law, and an LL.M. in Taxation from the Chapman University Fowler School of Law. He is an attorney admitted to the California State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the U.S. Tax Court.
