Biography
Gretchen L. Lowe is the Acting Director and Chief Counsel of the Division of Enforcement at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The Division of Enforcement investigates and litigates violations of the federal commodities laws. As Chief Counsel, her office is responsible for advising `Division staff on legal and policy issues arising out of Enforcement’s investigations and litigations, and facilitates international cooperation and coordination. Ms. Lowe has been with the Commission since 1995. She has previously served as Acting Director for Enforcement and was an Associate Director for over 11 years. She led the investigations and prosecutions of many of the Commission’s significant cases, including the LIBOR and FX Currency and benchmark manipulation cases. Prior to the CFTC, Ms. Lowe was in private practice at Piper & Marbury (now DLA Piper). Ms. Lowe obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester and her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.
