Biography

Jeff Himstreet is senior regulatory counsel and vice president for MFA, an association representing the private funds industry. He previously was counsel to a private investment office and spent nearly a decade with the PGIM (Prudential) Fixed Income law team, where he advised on investment advisory, derivatives, and regulatory matters. He was the principal derivatives lawyer at PGIM Fixed Income, implementing EMIR and Dodd-Frank requirements in the US, and Australia, the EU, and Japan, in addition to supporting other PGIM asset managers such as PGIM Quantitative and Jennison Associates on investment advisory, CFTC, and derivatives issues. Prior to joining PGIM, he was a partner with Bingham McCutchen, where he advised investment advisers, private funds, investment companies, and broker-dealers on asset management and regulatory issues. He also worked in-house, serving as the chief investment advisory product support for a large, dually-registered firm and as the chief legal officer for the wealth management division of a regional bank, and served as an attorney with the SEC's Division of Investment Management. He received his JD from the Willamette University College of Law and his LLM (with honors) from the Georgetown University Law Center.
