Biography

Lorraine S. McGowen is a leading bankruptcy and restructuring attorney, a Partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, a member of Orrick’s Management Committee and a long-time leader of Orrick’s global Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives. She has held other leadership positions in the firm, including serving on the firm’s Board of Directors. 

Lorraine has 30+ years of experience in bankruptcies, out-of-court restructurings, bank insolvency, sovereign and municipal debt restructurings, and creditors’ rights enforcement actions.  

Ms. McGowen is a former Vice President and Board Member of the New York City Bar Association and currently co-chairs its Presidential Task Force on Artificial Intelligence & Digital Technologies and is a member of the City Bar Commercial Law & Uniform State Laws Committee. She serves on the Boards of Directors for the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession and the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, where she is chair of the board. She has been recognized as an MCCA Rainmaker, one of Savoy’s Most Influential Black Lawyers, and one of Savoy’s Most Influential Women in Corporate America.
