Biography
Menachem Danishefsky is a partner in Akin Gump’s tax practice group. His practice spans an array of tax matters primarily associated with the private investment fund space. These matters include mergers and acquisitions, fund formation, international tax and financial restructuring.
Menachem advises both sponsors and limited partners on the tax aspects of investment structures. His clients include private equity and hedge fund managers as well as sovereign wealth funds and sovereign wealth-related platforms. He assists clients in navigating specific and general tax concerns that arise in a number of industries.
Some recent transactions that Menachem advised on include funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management in the acquisition of EmployBridge, the largest industrial staffing company in the United States; funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management in the acquisition of Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, an Ontario-based company that operates 26 gaming, entertainment and hospitality facilities in Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia; Lyric Capital Group, a market leader in the music royalty space and the owner of independent music publisher Spirit Music Group, in its strategic alliance with Northleaf Capital Partners; a sovereign wealth fund in connection with its $2 billion investment in a technology investment manager and seeding of a long-term investment fund; FirstEnergy Solutions, Corp. in its $5 billion debt restructuring, one of the largest and most complex filings of 2018; and the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its $20 billion anchor commitment towards the creation of Blackstone’s new investment platform dedicated to U.S. infrastructure.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Menachem practiced Israeli tax law at a Tel Aviv-based law firm.
Menachem received his B.A. in 2004 from Yeshiva University, and his LL.B. in 2011 from Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
