Biography

Sumana Setty serves as the General Counsel to Wafra Inc., a global alternative investment firm that manages roughly $30 billion in assets under management across private equity, real assets, infrastructure and real estate. She manages the legal team and overseas the firm’s strategic initiatives, including governance, strategic planning, as well as the structuring and launch of the various funds. Previously, Sumana served as a Partner at Kirkland and Ellis, representing sponsors launch various investment strategies and represent investor in various asset management transactions, including minority stake acquisitions, and preferred equity and debt financings. For both companies, Sumana brought a creative and investment-focused approach to transaction structuring and execution.

In addition, Sumana co-founded a non-profit organization that aims to create sustainable and impactful change in communities worldwide through education, healthcare, and economic development, with a focus on empowering school-aged girls in India and South Asia. Sumana's belief in empowering women and creating sustainable change is at the core of her work and drives her to continue to make a positive impact in the world for a more equitable future. Through C2C's adaptive education programs focused on some of the world’s most vulnerable girls, the organization has supported over 7000 young women, with 98% of them enrolling in secondary education.
