Overview

Why You Should Attend

This half day program is tailored to introduce attorneys to the fundamental aspects of drafting security agreements. Starting with the basic elements of secured transactions, attendees will learn about the rules and definitions established by Article 9 of the UCC and how to protect creditors and debtors in these transactions.

The first panel will explain the foundational elements of the security agreement: scope, attachment, perfection, and priority. After which, the panel will dive into the principles of drafting, emphasizing definitions, clauses, and provisions. The second panel will take a deeper look at perfection by filing and preparation of the financial statement. And the third panel will address perfection by control and the issues related to choice of law and alternative methods of control. Attendees will also have an improved understanding of priority and issues related to first to file and other liens.

  • Confidently draft a security agreement with an improved understanding of the definitions and rules set forth under Article 9 of the UCC
