Member Groupcasts FAQ
What is a Groupcast?
Groupcasts are group viewings of PLl's live webcasts and/or on-demand programs. Member Groupcasts can take place right in your office, simulating a classroom experience and encouraging attorneys to discuss the material being presented.
Can I do virtual or hybrid Member Groupcasts?
Yes! PLI offers both virtual (all participants are remote) and hybrid Groupcasts (in-person and remote participants).
What type of credit can attendees earn by watching a Groupcast?
Currently, PLI offers the following credit types (depending on the program): CLE, Paralegal CLE, CPD, CPE for CPAs, IRS CE, Privacy CE for IAPP-certified privacy professionals, CFE for Certified Fraud Examiners, CCB CEUs for Compliance Certification Board-certified professionals, HRCI and SHRM for HR professionals, Non-ACAMS for ACAMS-certified AML professionals, financial pros certified by the American Bankers Association (ABA), CFP for Certified Financial Planners (live webcasts only), and more.
How do you organize a Member Groupcast?
Groupcasts are easy to set up. For in-person Groupcasts, an administrator can request a Groupcast via the Request Groupcast feature in Membership Suite or by clicking the "Request Groupcast" link on the webpage of any online PLI program and following the steps. An administrator can also send an email to groupcasts@pli.edu with the following information:
- Name and date of the live webcast; for on-demand programs, use the date you plan on holding the Groupcast.
- Location(s) where the Groupcast is taking place.
- The type of credit and all CLE jurisdictions to be requested by attendees.
- Name of the coordinator and/or on-site contact who will set up and monitor the Groupcast. This person will receive the Groupcast link for in-person Groupcasts.
Can we invite clients to our Member Groupcast?
Yes! Clients can be invited to attend your Groupcast, and this can be a terrific networking opportunity. Please contact your account manager for pricing.
How do we access the Groupcast on the day of the program?
If you have scheduled an in-person Groupcast, a Groupcast link will be emailed to the coordinator one day before the scheduled Groupcast. This link can be used to access the program along with the sign-in forms and course materials. If you have scheduled a hybrid or virtual Groupcast, participants will view an MP4 video file, which will have been downloaded in advance by the coordinator.
How easy is the setup from a technological perspective?
All Groupcasts stream through the internet via PLI’s Media Player. PLl's website is optimized for use on Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and Edge. Your computer system must have high-speed internet service and at least 5 Mbps bandwidth.
Are written materials a part of the Groupcast?
Yes, electronic versions of the written materials are available for download through the Groupcast link at no extra charge.
Do we have to click the timestamp?
No. If you have scheduled an in-person Groupcast, the link created to view the Groupcast will not have the timestamp found in individually viewed live webcasts and on-demand programs/web segments.
How do we track our time for credit purposes?
For in-person Groupcasts, attendees must sign in/out on a single attendance form. There must be an attendance monitor who is not seeking credit present at all locations of the Groupcast.
For hybrid and virtual Groupcasts, attendance is confirmed by the MP4 Authorization Code. All participants seeking credit must complete a Virtual Credit Request Form and include this code along with the participant’s signature. Email groupcasts@pli.edu for more information.
