Overview
Why You Should Attend
California’s MCLE compliance deadline of February 1, 2024 is fast approaching for Group 2 (attorneys with last names beginning with H-M). You can satisfy (almost) all of California’s MCLE special requirements at this fast-paced and engaging event! A faculty of outstanding California lawyers and other professionals, who are recognized leaders in their respective fields, will conveniently provide the California-required subjects that you need:
- Four hours of legal ethics
- One hour of dealing with prevention and detection of competency issues in the legal profession, including stress and substance abuse. This year's featured speaker is Brian Cuban.
- One hour of elimination of bias (please note that attorneys admitted in California must now complete 2 elimination of bias credits, including 1 implicit bias credit. This program offers 1 implicit bias credit only; an additional 1 credit of Elimination of Bias and Implicit Bias is still required.

Who Should Attend
All attorneys licensed to practice law in California, and particularly those whose last names begin with a letter from H through M (Group 2), should attend. Earn four hours of Ethics credit
One hour of Implicit Bias credit (California attorneys are required to earn at least two hours dealing with elimination of bias. Rule 8.3 was recently enacted and implemented for California lawyers. After completing this session, participants will be able to:
- Discuss Rule 8.3, recently enacted and implemented for California lawyers.
- Explore ethical and disciplinary implications of requiring lawyers to report ethical breaches of other lawyers to the California Bar.
- Analyze possible application of Rule 8.3 to various scenarios, including how other jurisdictions have applied similar versions of the Rule.
- Contrast new Rule 8.3 with lawyer’s self-reporting requirements under the State Bar Act.

The Robots are Coming: Artificial Intelligence in the Practice of Law
Take a closer look at the intersection of artificial intelligence and legal practice. After completing this session, participants will be able to:
- Explore how artificial intelligence tools from Chat GPT to image generators and chatbots may be used in the practice of law, and the risks and rewards associated with those tools.
